APILANDA

BEELAND

 Vita d’ape

Il nido delle api
la reggia senza capi
lavori industriosi
prodotti deliziosi;

guardiane bellicose
prottegon l’alveare
difendon la colonia
con fini pungiglioni
assalgono improvvise
intrusi ed impiccioni,
il lor veleno cura
dolori e reumatismi
ed è arma letale
che non convien provare;

esperte ceraiuole
la casa fan brillare,
le api consorelle
puliscon favi e celle
e nutron la regina,
dan pollini pregiati
e latte alle covate
che è pappa reale
poppate salutari
di forza naturale;

il propoli è cemento
resina balsamica
unguento e medicina,
il polline dei fiori
è pane e vitamine
il miele e la melata
la carne e l’insalata,
le cere son mattoni
son anche letti e culle
e son kambusa e stiva;

l’ape bottinatrice
del miele è la fattrice
di nobile pastura
il dono di natura.

Life of the Bee

The bee nest
The palace sans lords
Industrious workers
Delicious creations;

Bellicose guardians
Protect the beehive
Defend the colony
With fine stingers
Assault unexpected
Intruders and meddlers,
Their venom cures
Pains and rheumatism
A lethal weapon
Not worth experiencing;

Expert wax-workers
Shine the house,
Sister bees
Clean honeycombs and cells
Nurture the queen
Give precious pollens
And milk to the hatchlings
In the form of royal jelly
Healthy nourishment

Of natural potency;
Propolis, bee-glue
Aromatic resin
Ointment and medicine,
Flower pollen
Bread and vitamins,
Honey and honeydew
Meat and salad,
Waxes, the bricks
Also beds and cradles
