Carlotta, studentessa universitaria prossima alla laurea in medicina, ha una mamma – Giorgia – davvero speciale:  inventa proverbi tutti suoi, tiene nell’ingresso di casa un Vaso delle Risposte pieno di caramelle e le fa un regalo per consolarla ogni volta che lei confessa di aver preso un brutto voto in un esame, anche se naturalmente si tratta di una bugia.  E  non è finita:  anche il lavoro di Giorgia è piuttosto insolito.  Dopo aver abbandonato la professione di giornalista, ha deciso di aprire uno studio a casa:  la “Baffi & Tarocchi S.r.l.”, con lo scopo di regalare la felicità a clienti e amiche tutte rigorosamente donne.  Come?  Attraverso la lettura delle carte e apposite cerette al viso, per ottenere un sorriso più splendente.  E non solo:  molto importanti a tal fine sono anche i saggi consigli di Giorgia e l’archivio, costruito nel corso degli anni, che raccoglie frasi ad effetto per ogni evenienza relativa all’amore.

Carlotta, a university student finishing a degree in medicine, has a mother, Giorgia, who is quite unique:  Giorgia invents proverbs all her own; she has a “Vase of Answers” at the entrance of the house full of sweets; she gives her daughter a present to console her every time she confesses to doing poorly on an exam, even if she had obviously lied.  And it doesn’t end here:  even Giorgia’s job is rather odd.  After abandoning a profession in journalism, she decides to open up a business in her home:  Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l. (Moustaches & Tarot Cards, Inc.), with the goal of giving happiness to clients and friends, all of which are women.  And how does she do this?  Through tarot card reading and facial hair removal, all with the goal of creating happier smiles.  Giorgia also contributes her wise advice and an archive, built up over the course of the years, of useful phrases that can be used in any love situation that might arise.

Oggi a Bergamo – Laura de Laurentiis presenta il romanzo “Baffi & tarochhi S.r.l.”

Viene presentato oggi alle 18 a “Il caffe letterario” di Bergamo, per la serie di incontri “Aperitivo con l’autore”, il romanzo “Baffi & tarocchi S.r.l.” di Laura de Laurentiis (Badaracco Editore, pp. 143, euro 12).  L’autrice si intratterrà con il pubblico e risponderà alle domande che le verranno rivolte.  Il libro è un collage di storie interamente al femminile, tenute insieme dall’architrave dell’amicizia.  Al centro, la figura di Giorgia, una scrittrice che a un certo punto decide di appendere la penna al chiodo e invitarsi un mestiere bizzarro:  costruire il business della felicità per le donne.  In questo modo, usando i tarocchi e facendo cerette, raccoglie le confidenze intime delle sue amiche e inizia a farsi carico delle loro esistenze e a dispensare consigli, destreggiandosi fra matrimoni, divorzi, tradimenti, gelosie e rancori.  Il tutto però condito da una sana ironia affettuosa e paradossale.  La prefazione del libro è firmata da Francesco Alberoni.  Laura de Laurentiis scrive di psicologia, salute e rapporti di coppia per varie testate nazionali.  Ha curato la stesura della mini-enciclopedia “Il pediatra risponde dalla A alla Z” (Fabbri editore) e del libro “Sposi oggi domani sempre” (EDPS).

Today in Bergamo – Laura de Laurentiis Presents Her Novel Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l. (Moustaches & Tarot Cards, Inc.)

The novel Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l. (Moustaches & Tarot Cards, Inc. - Badaracco Publishing, pages 143, euro 12) by Laura de Laurentiis will be presented today at the “Literary Café” of Bergamo as part of the series “Aperitif with the Author”.  The author will interact with the public and respond to questions posed.  The book is a collage of stories entirely related to women, who are held together by the bonds of friendship.  The protagonist is Giorgia, a writer that suddenly decides to abandon her writing and start up a bizarre new occupation:  to build happiness in women.  Using tarot cards and wax hair removal, she gathers intimate details about her friends and begins to take charge of their lives and to dispense advice, maneuvering between marriages, divorces, betrayals, jealousies and resentments.  All this is tempered, however, by a healthy dose of affectionate and paradoxical irony.  The preface of the book is written by Francesco Alberoni.  Laura de Laurentiis writes about psychology, health and couples for various national publications.  She edited the mini-encyclopedia Il pediatra risponde dalla A alla Z (The Pediatrician Responds from A to Z – Fabbri Publishing) and the book Sposi oggi domani sempre (Newlyweds Today Tomorrow Always – EDPS Publishing).

Monza – Da Libri e libri - Oggi a Bergamo – Laura de Laurentiis presenta il romanzo “Baffi & tarochhi S.r.l.”

Verrà presentato oggi alle 17.30 alla Libreria Libri e libri di Via Itlaia 22 Baffi & tarochhi S.r.l., l’ultima fatica letteraria della giornalista-scrittrice Laura de Laurentiis.

Giuliana Nuvoli, docente di Letteratura italiana all’Università di Milano, introdurrà l’incontro con l’autrice.  Al termine un aperitivo con l’autrice.

Filo conduttore del libro, Badaracco Editore, è l'amicizia, brusca nella forma e salda nella sostanza, che lega (e salva) tante donne diversissime, ma con identico DNA emotivo.

Nella prefazione, scritta dal sociologo Francesco Alberoni, si legge: "Esempio brillante e divertente della nuova letteratura da cui è bandito ogni romanticismo, ogni passione straziante, che costituisce anzi una barriera contro il loro ritorno. Ma a un'attenta analisi non sfugge che si tratta di una barriera leggera".

Baffi & tarochhi S.r.l. è un fresco e divertente libro che permette di dare una sbirciatina nei meandri dell'animo femminile, sorprendendo, strappando molti sorrisi e anche qualche lacrima.

Monza – Bookshop “Da Libri e Libri” (From Books and Books) - Laura de Laurentiis and Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l. (Moustaches & Tarot Cards, Inc.)

Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l., the latest literary effort by the journalist and writer Laura de Laurentiis, will be presented today at 5:30pm at the bookshop “Da Libri e Libri” on Via Italia 22 in Monza. 

Giuliana Nuvoli, professor of Italian Literature at the University of Milan, will open the event.  At the end an aperitif will be served.

The underlying theme of this novel by Badaracco Publishing deals with friendship, abrupt in manner and solid in substance, which connects (and saves) women who are very different from each other but possess the same emotional DNA. 

In the preface the sociologist Francesco Alberoni writes:  “This is a brilliant and entertaining example of new literature where romanticism and heartbreaking passion are done away with and where barriers have been erected preventing their return.  Yet, one realizes through a thorough analysis that these barriers are weak.” 

Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l. is a refreshing and entertaining novel that gives a small glimpse of the meanderings of the female mind while stunning us and evoking many smiles and even some tears.

Un romanzo che apre le porte alla felicità per tutte le donne, ma non solo.  Venerdì alle 17,30 alla libreria Libri & Libri di via Italia 22 è stato presentato “Baffi & Tarocchi S.r.l.”, debutto narrativo della giornalista Laura de Laurentiis.  Ad un’attenta platea femminile composta da una trentina di persone, la scrittrice ha letto passi della propria opera, suscitando commenti di approvazione da parte del pubblico.  Una storia di donne che insegna “quanto siano importanti le amicizie femminile, quanto sia bello essere una bella signora 60enne”.  Scritto in uno stile semplice e accattivante, il libro è uno spaccato della commedia umana, che pone al centro il “Baffi & Tarocchi S.r.l.”, un negozio che pratica cerette e letture dei tarocchi, ma che in realtà diventa la bottega della felicità.

This is a novel that opens doors to happiness for all women, but that’s not all.  Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l., the debut narrative by the journalist Laura de Laurentiis, was presented Friday at 5:30pm in the bookshop “Da Libri e Libri” on Via Italia 22 in Monza.  To an attentive female audience of about 30, the writer read passages from her novel, and the public reacted with approval.  This is a story of women that teaches “the importance of female friendship and the beauty of being a 60-year-old lady”.  Written in a simple and captivating style, the book takes a crack at human comedy, placing at the center Baffi & Tarocchi, S.r.l., a shop that practices hair removal and tarot card readings, but in reality becomes the shop of happiness.
