La Chiesa di Gesù Cristo dei Santi dell’Ultimo giorno (LDS) permette di scaricare gratuitamente dal proprio sito Family Search website un programma di genealogia per PC ‘Personal Ancestral File’. PREPARING THE GEDCOM FILE Most genealogical software provide an option for exporting information in GEDCOM format. These programs provide critera for selecting which individuals to include, the type of information to be included, and the type of encoding for the output file. Acceptable encoding options, in order of preference, are: UTF-8, UNICODE, ANSEL and ANSI. Note, your software may also include an option for removing information about “living” individuals. Using this option is not recommended. The problem is that oldest ancestors, for which there is often neither birth nor death information available, will also be removed. (Any individuals for which no death information is entered can be problematic.) THE POSTING PROCESS Your file will be loaded into LDS’ Personal Ancestral File (PAF) geneology program and it's various consistency checks applied. Next, a “living persons” filter will be applied. Specifically, this filter will remove entries for individuals that do not meet at least one of the following criteria: Burial-Place EXISTS) OR (Date-of-Death EXISTS) OR (Burial-Date EXISTS) OR (Death-Place EXISTS) OR (Birth-Date is < 1921) OR (Christening-Date < 1921) OR (Marriage-Date < 1946) Note that living individuals born before 1921 or married before 1946 are not removed by the filter.
